Night Life in Marrakech
Marrakech has quite a lively nightlife and it varies from belly dancing shows and traditional Moroccan music to lively bars and discos that play internationally known music! Morocco is an Islamic country but alcohol is easily available. The medina provides traditional evening entertainment in the form of charming cafes, colourful food stalls and fun street entertainment, with everything revolving around Jemaa el Fna. Many visitors tend to stay within the hotels for evening entertainment and drinking, as many of the bars are male orientated. Most hotels offer some kind of evening entertainment such as live shows or discos and there are bars that serve alcohol until quite late at night.
Activities in Marrakech
There is plenty to keep you occupied in Marrakech, whether it is sight seeing or shopping! After sunset the djemma el Fna Square livens up with storytellers, snake charmers and vendors coming out to entertain the crowds. One of the most accessible and popular Marrakech attractions outside the Medina is the Majorelle Gardens, a beautiful retreat of tranquillity in the new town. The gardens also contain the Museum of Islamic Art, which features fine traditional art, carpets, ceramics and jewellery. The 16th century Saadian Tombs in the medina have superb mosaics and peaceful gardens. Walk the medina walls that date back to the 13th century. The Atlas Mountains are also a popular excursion and tours can be organised by local tour operators.
