Funchal has a great variety of excellent restaurants serving both international and local cuisine although there are very few fast food outlets. Dining out in Funchal is always a pleasurable experience and the food is delicious. Many of the cafés and restaurants offer spectacular views and are the perfect place to people watch. Night Life in Funchal
Nightlife in Funchal is very relaxed and tends to be based around evening meals in restaurants and hotels in-house entertainment. There are a few bars but they are not open until too late into the night. Many hotels have their own animation team that provides live show and entertainment throughout the evening as well as having their own bars. Alternatively there is the Madeira Casino located nearby that makes for a good night out.

Whilst on holiday in Funchal there is plenty to do and see. Wander around the Old Town and you will find numerous historic monuments as well as the Cathedral with its intricate ceiling works and décor. A trip in a cable up to the mountain village of Monte is definitely worth doing and the adventurous can even speed back down towards Funchal in a wicker toboggan! A pleasant walk around the botanical gardens is always relaxing and the plants are truly stunning. Funchal Market is also a great experience, the local crafts, produce and plants on offer are truly great and the atmosphere is friendly and fun.
